I dont know how and why this mistake has happened. I have reported the same to Google..

Is this a result of wrong indexing? or due to wrong labelling of the photos/images on the websites which is indexed by Google.. Hope this will be rectified soon..

Try searching for "Dr Rajkumar" or "Puneeth Rajkumar" or "Shivrajkumar" or "Raghavendra Rajkumar" in Google and see whether its same or whether its corrected..

Try searching about your favourite actors or actresses and see whether there is any different photo coming up in the results.. You can try searching in Yahoo or Bing (formerly Live and MSN Search) search engines also..

Have a Great Time..
Is it a Domain or SubDomain? The news everywhere is that there is a launch of new domain extension .IN.NET with "India's New Domain" as punchline..

.IN.NET is a part of RADIX (RadixRegistry) which is a constituent of Directi (Directi) which is one of the leaders in the business of Web Presence (Domains, Webspace, Internet Traffic and Communications) which has a lot of innovative services and has millions of customers worldwide.. The registry system backend is provided by CentralNic (CentralNic) which has many of new TDLs ( .PW , .LA ) and LL.COM/LL.NET/LL.ORG which are TDL like subdomain extensions..

.IN.NET domain registration is focused to provide Indian Domain Name to Indians or Indian Business as per the Company's Website (IN.NET). This gives a new opportunity for many people to have an online address especially to those whose names or phrases are already registered by someone else.. This confers the "Availability" , one of the 3 descriptive terms of the company.

Another descriptive term of .IN.NET company is "Unrestricted" ! ! ! If the registration of .IN.NET is available to every individual, how will it be "India's New Domain" as anyone can register the domain name.. So the Indian essence of .IN.NET may be lost... So restricting the registration of the services will really provide a total Indian essence...

The third descriptive term is "Affordable" which is yet to be determined as the website does not reveal the prices of the registration / transfer or renewal processes as its Launch with Land Rush is from 17-June-2013 to 30-July-2013, the services will be open to the public from 01-August-2013...

Now is .IN.NET is offering domain registration or sub-domain registration........?
To find this out we must know the basic naming system over the internet like TLD, gTLD, ccTLD, SLD etc.. You can read about these terms by searching for "domain name basics" or at iGoldrush [domain name structure and TLDs (gTLD, sTLD, uTLD, ccTLD)] which explains these terms in a simple way with examples..

A few examples for TLD (Top-Level-Domain) : .com , .net , .org , .in , .us , .uk etc
Here .com , .net , .org are Generig-TLDs (gTLD) where as .in , .us , .uk are Country-Code-TLDs (ccTLD).

Now look at my domain, http://blog.kslokesh.com , here TLD is .com which is a gTLD..

Now consider bsnl.co.in (address of India's BSNL), here co.in is an SLD. Many countries have ccTLD and some have SLDs which work as TLDs...
A few examples for SLD (Second-Level-Domains) : .co.in , .net.in , .co.uk etc. In my address http://blog.kslokesh.com , kslokesh is also an SLD as it preceeds a TLD and blog is a Subdomain..

[ blog.kslokesh.com : blog (subdomain) ; kslokesh (SLD) ; com (TLD) ]

So considering yourname.IN.NET , here yourname the subdomain of IN.NET which is being offered as a domain name. But this subdomain really works as a real SLD due to the functioning of the DNS service..

There are lot of free services which provide subdomain-as-a-domain registration which works as SLDs like uni.me , cz.cc etc. , We also have seen the popular CO.CC which stopped all the subdomain services and Google removed the .co.cc domains from their index. You can search for the story of .CO.CC over the net for more information..

The registration service offered by .IN.NET is similar to that of .UK.COM, .JP.NET , .US.COM etc., which is Subdomain registration rather than True Domain Registration.. The Subdomain-as-a-Domain Service (SaaD Service) is really a new business opportunity especially when you have the names which are short (like 2 or 3 character) and more better if it corresponds to 2 or 3 character Country Codes or Accronyms etc. I think now the Network18's in.com which is providing free email, should also start to provide name registrations like yourname.in.com ..

Please DO NOT get confused between .IN.NET and .NET.IN ! ! ! The domain names with .IN , .CO.IN , .NET.IN , .ORG.IN , .GEN.IN , .FIRM.IN , .IND.IN etc extensions are maintained by IN Registry (IN Registry) which does not allow 2 character domain names and also has reserved words which cannot be registered by public. If it was allowed, someone would have registered domain names as IN.IN or COM.IN and start to provide SaaD Service as .IN.IN and .COM.IN respectively.... Who knows, as the demand for the names over the internet increases, the IN Registry itself may start to provide such services but it would be a genuine service...

A .IN ccTLD domain name costs around 500 - 800 INR ( 8 - 15 USD) / year which can be registered at many domain registration providers of which BigRock (BigRock) is one of the Leading Participant and also a constitute of Directi Group or from GoDaddy (GoDaddy / x.co/locality) which has recently started its office in India or from Net4 (Net4)..

If the name you wish is already registered by someone else, try for some alternative names or domain extensions. But for the people who are particular about the name, .IN.NET is really a good opportunity provided they are economically priced..

I will also register my .IN.NET name... If the price is acceptable for me..

Please visit IANA (IANA) which has list of TLD (gTLD and ccTLD) which are ICANN Approved (ICANN)..

Coming to domain hacks: fall.in.net , caught.in.net , compare.in.net , get.in.net , buy.in.net etc will soon follow...

Happy Domaining ! ! !
After little bit of exposure and experience, you can recognize most of the Spoof and Phishing.

If you have recognized or come across a Spoof or Phishing you will become cautious and must act safe to protect your sensitive information. Now you must also help others to be safe. You can do the following things if you recognize or come across Spoof and Phishing.

1) Spread the word about Spoof and Phishing.

2) Alert the websites like PhishTank, Symantec and Google about it.
PhishTank URL: http://www.phishtank.com/ (Needs Membership to report or vote)
Google Safe Browsing URL: http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/
Symantec Anti Fraud URL: https://submit.symantec.com/antifraud/phish.cgi

3) Alert the company/website which is being Phished.
Some websites may have an email dedicated for reporting Spoof Emails. Please forward the Spoof Emails along with the Full Headers to them. Please keep the Spoof Emails in a Separate folder as you may need it later. Email the concerned websites the link of the page used for the phishing.

4) If you are a power user or web master, you can do the research about the registrant of the domain, Trace the Spoof Email for the server of Origin, Look for the IP Address and Server where the Phished Pages are hosted. Report these to the respective service providers.

5) Make a Blog or Post about different Spoof and Phishing which you have come across. Share it with your friends.

6) Many More....

Please share the information about Spoof and Phishing and the methods to identify and prevent it.Lokesh K Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09155740870409638230noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6166401144247580774.post-51854327066734492032010-01-14T21:00:00.007+05:302010-02-06T19:54:31.890+05:30Phishing and Spoof - Part 3 - Few Tips to Prevent Getting Spoofed and PhishedIn previous post I had mentioned few things which will help you to recognize Potential Spoof and Phishing. In this post I will tell some of the tips which will help you to recognize and prevent Spoof and Phishing.

Few Tips To Prevent from being Phished:

1) Browser and Add-ons:
It is better that you use browsers like Mozilla FireFox or Opera as they are more secure compared to Internet Explorer. Kindly Enable the Status Bar of your browser.
Do not install unnecessary ToolBars, Add-ons/Plug-ins to the browsers.
Kindly disable certain JavaScript activities which will Hide Status Bar, Hide Address Bar, Change Status Bar Text, Disable or Replace Context Menus. These features may prevent you from recognizing the Phishing Attempts.
Look whether you can resize a PopUp Window. If you cannot, better to change to a different browser like FireFox or enable the options which will allow you to resize the PopUp windows. Check the Help Pages of your browser or ask the Help in some of the Web Forums.

2) Internet Surfing Habit:
It is a good habit to type the address of the bank and other financial service companies rather than clicking the link in emails or other non-standard websites. Or use the Bookmark/Favourites of the Browser. Do not use 3rd party web-services or online bookmarking services for bookmarking the addresses of the Financial company websites.

3) Look for "HTTPS" and Address Bar Text:
Look for the "https://" and the URL in the Address Bar Text in the address bar where you login to the website.

4) Look for "PadLock" symbol:
Look for the PadLock Symbol in the Status Bar of your Browser.

5) Use Anti-Phishing Browser Features:
Some browsers have Anti-Phishing Features and Some Antivirus Softwares also help in preventing the Phishing by alerting you when you come across a Phishing or Forged Website.

Some Measures about Keeping your Sensitive information Secure:
1) Do not publicly mention your email address which is associated with your bank account or other corporate concerns.
2) Use different email address for personal, corporate, official, social and financial purposes with different passwords. Use the email address from the services like BoxBe.com for public activities like posting in forums and commenting the blogs.
3) Do not share the credit card and other informations.
4) Never use the facilities like "Invite your Friends .." in the social websites which will ask you to enter your email account username and password. This will not only expose your email accounts but also expose the email addresses present in your address book.
5) Never enter your email addresses into the websites which you are not aware of. Please use the email address provided by the services like BoxBe.com in such situations which has very good Anti Spam Measures.

So be careful while you enter your email address into some website. In my next post I will tell what you can do if you recognize or come across a Spoof or Phishing.
Phishing and Spoof - Part 4 - What to do after you recognize Spoof and PhishingLokesh K Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09155740870409638230noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6166401144247580774.post-43499338827717606092010-01-13T20:00:00.002+05:302010-02-06T19:55:26.737+05:30Phishing and Spoof - Part 2 - Recognize Spoof and PhishingIn previous post I had given a small intro about Phishing and Spoof. In this post I will mention few things to consider by which you can recognize Potential Spoof Emails sent for Phishing.

1) Some of the things to look for when you get an email claiming to be from a Company of which you are a member:
You may get many emails from different companies. But be careful when you get an email asking you to enter some sensitive data.

When you get an Email requesting you to enter some sensitive data by clicking the link in the email, Look for the From Address, From Name, To Address, Sent Date, Full Email Headers, How the Email addresses you, The Data you are asked to enter, The link Text, Linked Address, etc.

From Address and Name:
Some companies usually declare the email addresses used by them to send emails to their members, but in most cases the From Address usually appears as Official Address, as the phishers forge the From Address of the emails. Sometimes the From Address may have little variations and it may not be noticeable easily.

If you get an email claiming to be from a bank to which you are not a member/customer and asks you to verify your account information, then you can blindly tell that it is the Spoof Email which is been sent to you for Phishing.

To Address:
If the email is sent only to you and directly to you, your Email address appears in the To Address of the Email. There will not be any other email address in the To Address of the email.

If there is another address/addresses in the To Address of the email, then you are not the only recipient of the email. Some send the emails by entering the addresses into the BCC Address of the email so that the other email addresses are not displayed.

So please be careful while clicking a link in an email to which you are not the only recepient and your address is not in the To Address of the email.

Sent Date:
Some send the email as Future Dated, eg: the sent date will be any date of the year 2020 etc. Such emails appear at the top of the email list in the Inbox. If the email is sent with a past date, such emails will be at the middle or last of the email list in the Inbox.

Kindly be careful if you get such emails.

Full Email Headers:
It is good habit to look the Full Email Header of the emails which appear to be sent by any Company like banks or shopping or financial services companies as it may sometimes prevent you from Phishing.

Sometimes the From Email Address may be different from Reply To Email Address, Or the Originating domain of the email may be different one. So its better to check for these things.

How the Email addresses you:
Some companies have the policy which mentiones how the member (you) will be addressed in the emails.
Eg: PayPal addresses the members by their Names in their emails. So if you get any email claiming to be from PayPal but it address you in a different way other than your name, say like "PayPal Customer", you can clearly tell that the email is not from PayPal.

The Data you are asked to enter:
Some emails ask you to reply the email with the username and passwords or other sensitive information. But such emails are less nowadays. Kindly go through the Company's Policies and check whether they send any emails asking for sensitive information. Most of the Corporate Companies have a policy that they wont send any emails asking you to send passwords or any other sensitive information.

Some emails may tell you that your account is blocked or has some suspicious activity and asks you to use the link in the email to login to the website. Never click such links. You better use the contact form or support ticket or the Telephone to contact the company as it is more safer. You can also send an email to the email address provided by the Company in their Official Website rather than replying to the sent email or clicking the link in the email.

If you want to login to the Companies Website, kindly open a new browser window and enter the website address of the Company into the address bar and use the login options in the website rather than opening the website by clicking the link in the email.

The link Text and Linked Address (URL):
The Link Text in the email may appear as to be same with the Official Website Address. But the Link Text can be made to link to a different URL.

Its better to scroll the mouse over the Link Text for a while and look for the Text in Status Bar. Usually it will be different from the Official Website Address if it is not scripted to show a different text in the Status Bar. You can even Right-Click on the Link and check the properties of that link and chcek the URL its linked to.

Some use the URL Shortening features and shorten the URL to a small URLs instead of Long ones. Be carful while clicking such URLs. Never enter any sensitive information into the pages which appear by clicking the Shortened URL Versions.

The URLs will be scripted in such a way that it opens in a New Window or Tab and it will not have an Address Bar. Never enter any sensitive information into the page which has no Address Bar and Status Bar and which appears as a resulting of clicking the Link in Email as it can be a Phishing Attempt.

These are only a few of the many things to be considered to recognize Spoof and Phishing. In my next post I will mention a few things by which you may prevent Phishing.
The users are usually sent Official looking Forged emails with a link to the Fake Page and asked to enter the sensitive information into the Fake Page.

"Spoof" or Spoof Email is the Forged of Fake Email which appears to be sent by some Reputed Company which usually contains the link to the web page which is used for Phishing and tells you to update your account details or to provide password or some sensitive data.

The Fake Page used for the Phishing is very similar to the Official Web pages of the particular Company (usually Financial Service Companies). The usernames, passwords, credit card number, PIN Number, Bank account number, Birthday, Mother's Maiden Name etc are some of the common sensitive information which the Fake Page usually collects.

Some consider the Spoof and Phishing not too serious and think that it may at max result only in some financial loss. But Spoof and Phishing can be used to get sensitive information which can be later used to do illegal activities.

The sensitive information can be used to log into your email account and send abusive or threatening emails to some authorities. It can be used to log into your online bank account and transfer funds to the person who uses it for illegal activities using your funds as the source. This can result in you getting screwed up for the things which you have not done.

It is secondary that after careful investigations it may reveal that only your account is used and you are not actually involved. But it depends on the facilities available to investigate and the co-operation of the service providers. But the mental trauma which you get is really worse.

So the Spoof and Phishing can really result in dangerous things. If you be careful and try to recognize the spoof and phishing, you can really prevent and protect from getting Phished.

In this post I have given a simple introduction about Spoof and Phishing. In my next post I will mention few things to consider to recognize the Spoof and Phishing.

It can be dome in very simple 4 steps:

Visit a Domain Registration service provider. Enter the name of the domain you want to register in the search box and select the extensions you like. If the domain name you are searching is already registered, try a different extension or different domain name. I register the domains with GoDaddy (x.co) , BigRock , and Net4 as they offer many services for free and the domain registration/renewal prices are very low.

Once you find an available domain name and you wish to register it, Add the domains you wish to register to the Cart and create an account if you are not a member of the site.

Enter all the required details in the sign up form (if already not a member) and Whois data.

Confirm the order and pay the invoice to get the order activated. On an average, a standard domain name costs about $9 or Rs.400 per year including the features like DNS, Domain and Email forwarding, whois privacy etc..

You will receive an email once the domain gets activated.

You can start using the domain for web hosting or forward it to another address if you do not have a website to host. You can also park your domain name or just keep it as it is for future use..

Why should you register a domain name?
There are many reasons..

For your web presence, the own domain names are the standard forms of web presence than a subdomain and folder based internet addresses.

To provide information related to something either personal or professional or business.

E-commerce and online business and corporate web presence. Own or Corporate email address.

Hobby and Passion.

If you do not want to register a domain name for cost without gaining some knowledge of Internet, Domain and website, you can go for a free domain (which is actually a sub-domain which works like a domain name).

Register a Free Domain Name and use it as a workplace and workspace to gain more knowledge about how the domains and website works.Lokesh K Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09155740870409638230noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6166401144247580774.post-51293634728687839502009-01-06T03:31:00.011+05:302009-01-06T06:00:43.791+05:30A Phishing Site is using the image from my Website !I was checking the Access Logs of my website today and I found an entry referring to the loading of an Image hosted on my site ! Nobbin Hobbin Emerald Gold Bonus ! Love to play it again and again.

Had you played it? Very Long Back? What has happened to this game now?

I still remember playing it in the computer class which I used to attend when I was in Class 5 (1992). My friends and I had joined a computer training institute where we got the basic computer knowledge.

Now coming to the game:
Digger DOS Game was created by Rob Sleath, Windmill software in 1983. It was available in 5.25" floppy disk for the IBM PCs. As it requires a genuine CGA card, it didn't work on modern PCs. It was running on the old systems with DOS (MS DOS and PC DOS) as the Operating System.

In the game, You should control the Digger and eat all the emerald to go to next level without getting bitten by Nobbins and Hobbins.

In 1998 Digger Remastered was created by Andrew Jenner, which runs on all PCs with CGA or better and plays just like the original. Now even available for MS Windows also. There is an Online Java Digger Remastered version made by Marek Futrega. I also have the same Java version put on to my website in Digger Game page. I play it many times.

The Official Digger Remastered Site gives you a lots of details and stories about this game. Check it.

I want to tell a bit about the times when we used to play digger in 1992.
There were only 2 systems in the computer training institute . The system we used to play Digger did not have a Hard Disk and was an old one (I think it was a 286 system, earlier to Pentium). We used to boot the system using MS DOS Bootable 5.25" Inch Floppy disk. Then remove the boot disk. Load the games disk. Play the game! Another system (386 system) was a bit more speed than that old one and had a Hard Disk also but the capacity was just 20 MB! Digger used to run very fast in this system, so we were not playing digger in the system with more speed.

Once I had made a highest score of 21000. Next day my friend took a challenge and sat playing Digger for more than an hour and made a score of 29000 ! We were expecting him to cross 30000 but the power went off..

Really those days were too exciting.. Happy Memories..

Keep Playing Digger ! - LokeshLokesh K Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09155740870409638230noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6166401144247580774.post-6925491839763632062008-09-17T00:00:00.008+05:302008-09-18T04:32:44.628+05:30Google Chrome: Effects Adsense Search !Google Chrome: Will it effect Google Adsense for Search Publishers? May Cause low earnings to AdSense for Search Publishers.

We all know that Google Chrome is the New Browser launched by Google etc etc.. It has a lots of good features and exciting browsing speed.. It will help the users in many ways.

But does Google Chrome has any side effect on AdSense for Search Publishers in any way?

Webmasters used to provide a Google AdSense Search Box on each and every page and including Error Pages like 404 etc..

So the visitors used to search through the search box provided by the webmaster.. Got the search results along with Ads.. So more chances of clicking the Ads.. More earnings for the Adsense for Search Publishers..

Google Toolbar became popular and many users got it installed onto their browsers.. This caused a bit of hitch in the earnings of the AdSense for Search Publishers as most of the people started to use the toolbar search instead of search box on the webpages.. The feature "Search from Address Bar" also caused some similar effect to the AdSense For Search Publishers.

With the awarenes of privacy, spyware, adware, trojans etc might have caused many people to remove the installed toolbars even though it was provided by trusted companies including Google.. Some Spyware Detectors and Removers even listed the toolbars as spywares.. So the surfers again started to use the Search box on the webpage as they started to remove many toolbars installed onto their browsers.. This caused a small rise in the earnings to the Publishers.

NOW:
The release of Google Chrome has added more to the reputation, sentiments and among the users as Google has provided Great products like Google Earth, Picasa, Desktop, Sketch Up, AdSense, AdWords, Apps, Mail, GTalk, Orkut, Blogger, etc. etc. etc. etc. and now Google Chrome. We all know that Google is the Most popular seach engine. The word "Google" now has become synonymus to "Search" in the web terms.

So this will make the users again to use the inbuilt Search feature but in a very great extent as the browser is provided by Google and no need to install any Toolbars from different provider..

This will Add a lot to the Google's Revenue.. As the Revenue generated from the Ads in the Search will belong only to the Google. There is no need to share the revenue generated from the AdSense for Search with other publishers as the results are due to inbuilt search box and not from the AdSense for Search Publisher as it is not on the Web page.

One day Google may make a policy and may not pay for the clicks of the Ads displayed in the results by the use of AdSense for Search Box where Google Chrome is the Browser. "When there is an inbuilt search, why would the user use the search box on the web page? May be the publisher himself generating search results and clicking on Ads!"

Who knows.. What will Happen..?

But For the Internet surfers Google has provided a very good tool..

What ever it may be..
